Moving...Soon...We Hope

So we found a house over in Sandy that we like. We were just going to try and rent it, but we tried to qualify for a loan so we could buy it. Lucky for us, we qualified. So after many weeks of waiting and waiting, we hope to be closing on it on Friday. I don't know, possibly even Monday or Tuesday of next week. All I know is that we are super excited! Here's some pictures.

Busy, Busy, Busy

Man, we have been non- stop busy these last few weeks. Busy doing work and mowing lawns and stuff, but also busy doing fun things as well. I'd rather be doing fun things. I guess I'll start with two weeks ago...since I haven't posted anything in a long time.

We have been spending a lot of time with our friends lately. It has been so fun. We are trying to make more time to spend with those we love. We tend to get caught up in other things that we sometimes neglect our friends. Two Fridays ago we were invited to a barbecue over at our friends Chad and Stephanie's house. They made steak and chicken kabobs. Mmm, so tasty. They just bought a house, so this was the first time we had been there. It was very nice. The only bad thing was that it was clear out in the boonies! They live in a newer development clear out in the outskirts of Eagle Mountain. It took forever to get there. We did have fun though.

Then the next day we went and saw some fireworks with our friends Dustin and Rebekah and her twin sister Amber. Before we went, Bekah and some fun curling my hair. So girlie. It is nice hanging out with them because they love Ethan. They watch him more than we do when we're all together. We went to Centennial Park for the "West Fest". It's a festival they hold in West Valley City. We didn't go on any rides or anything, but we found a nice little section of grass to chill on. Once the fireworks started we settled in and enjoyed the show...well up until the sprinklers came on! I've never seen so many people move so fast. So, we found another piece of grass to chill on. Ethan did very well with the fireworks. He actually seemed to enjoy them. All in all we had a great time.

Then to this last weekend. Independence Day weekend to be exact. Dad and Rose were in town for a few days, so we invited them to come to Sugarhouse Park with us. The park fills up fast for fireworks, so we left super early. I think we got there around 5 pm. We spent the entire evening just hanging out in the park. It was a beautiful day outside. Perfect weather. Dustin and Bekah joined us soon after we got there too. We played UNO and ate snacks and just enjoyed each others company. The fireworks were awesome. Sugarhouse always puts on a good show. Poor Camilla was so exhaused that she just konked out during the show. Sound asleep. We were out super late. We didn't get home until about 11:30 pm. Good times.

So here we are today. Back to the work week. Hopefully we can have another fun weekend this week too. That would make three fun weeks in a row!

Our Favorite Past Time

It's true, we love fishing. I just wish I liked to eat it! I do eat it, but I'm not totally in love with it. Over this last weekend we went fishing with our friends Dustin and Rebekah and Dustin's dad Mike. They have a boat. We had so much fun! Gene caught about 15 fish! Isn't that crazy? I caught one that was about 3 1/2 pounds! That one was the biggest catch of the day. I was pretty excited. We really had a great time. We just fished, cruised the lake, listened to music and just enjoyed each others company. Thanks to Tiffani (Gene's sister) for taking Ethan again. We left our house at 5:30 in the morning, so Ethan slept at her house. We can't wait to go again. We are hoping that sometime we can go with Tiff and Mark. I'd love to see her face if she caught one!

Cute Ethan Pics

He was dead asleep with really sweaty hair...so naturally I had some fun with him! So cute!

Yeah, he really likes those Baby Einstein videos...as you can tell.

Learning how to walk already. He's pulling himself up to his feet and walking across the furniture and stuff. I swear, they really do grow up fast!

Lagoon

Yesterday we had so much fun. Gene and I went to Lagoon! Gene's sister got discount tickets through her work and invited us along. We haven't gone in 2 years. Boy they've got some fun rides. We rode their new roller coaster called Wicked. I was so scared! The ride takes you up 90 degrees right at the beginning. Freaky. I don't think I've ever ridden so many coasters in one day, but Gene wanted to get all the rides. I did whimp out on the Rocket. It pretty much shoots you straight up in the air and then lets you free fall on the way down. No thanks. Gene, his sister Camille and our nephews went on it a few times. Cherie and I gladly sat and watched. The only bad thing was the weather. It was only about 60 degrees outside. Cold and wet. We had wet bums most of the morning. Then of course as we are leaving the sun decides to come out. Oh well. All in all we had a great time. Thanks to Tiffani (Gene's sister) for watching Ethan for us.

Side note on Ethan--He pulled himself up onto his feet last night. It was the first time he got up to his feet. He's been trying so hard to do that. Then of course he let go of the couch. We caught him in time though. He'll be walking in no time!

Pull Ups

The title is called pull ups not because Ethan is being potty trained...yet, but because he is now pulling himself up to things. For example, the dishwasher and the couch are now jungle gyms. He's been crawling for a few weeks now and is already advancing to this stage. Man oh man, it all happens so fast. And boy, what a talker! There is constantly a noise coming out of his mouth. Whether it is a happy sound or a grumpy sound makes the difference. There are plenty of both noises. He's going to be 9 months old soon. To think that I'm going to have a one year old in a few months is crazy. Ethan is sleeping much better these days. Thank goodness! He only gets up maybe once or twice in the night and is taking naps about every 3 to 3 1/2 hours everyday. What a big boy.

Gone Fishin'

This last weekend was awesome. On a whim Gene decided we should go fishing. So after Ethan woke up on Saturday morning we were off to Jordanelle Reservoir. I'd gone fishing with Gene many times before, but I didn't have a fishing license so I couldn't actually catch fish. I got my license in January so this time I actually got to cast out. Gene taught me how to tie my own line too. I even baited my own hook! Pretty skilled chick! Gene caught the biggest fish of the day. It was about 17 inches long and about 3 pounds. The rest of the fish caught that day were small. I caught 2 and Gene caught three or four. Since Ethan was on this trip, we had to take some extra precautions. Like sunscreen for example. I'm super paranoid about having a burned baby. I kept reapplying it to his delicate skin. Of course, I forgot to bring a hat for him. So, he got a little burned on his scalp. Thankfully it doesn't seem to bother him.

I think we will probably go fishing more often now. Since I get to cast out too I don't get as bored so fast. We want to go up at least twice a month. I guess I better find more recipes on how to cook fish!
